Venus Forney (Dietrich)

Venus Cleo Dietrich, 92, a long-time resident of Olney residing in Columbus, Ind. died Saturday August 17, 2002 at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Ind.  Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Reverend Gordon Elliott officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Mrs. Dietrich was born on June 17, 1910 in Richland County, the daughter of Oscar E. and clara (Leathers) Forney. She married Loren F. Dietrich on June 17, 1932. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1984.

She was a retired dental assistant for Dr. Jordan and worked at Olney Carnegie Library and Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. She attended First United Methodist Church in Olney for ten years. In 1992 she transferred to First United Church of Christ in Olney. She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir with her husband for more than 30 years. She was a member of White Shrine of Jerusalem, Eastern Star, Olney Clio Club and Olney Garden Club. Covering a span of 50 years, she served in many stations and offices. She traveled extensively with her family on annual vacations. In September 2001 she moved to Columbia, Ind. to be near her family.

Mrs. Dietrich is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Dietrich Gaddy and her husband, Rex. R. of Livingston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jan Dietrich Masopust of Olney; granddaughter; two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, John Samuel and Walter Forney; a sister, Mabel Forney Wright and a son, Loren "Fred" Dietrich.
