Woman Injured in Fall From Window of Hospital

Miss Gladys Borah, 25 years old, a patient at Deaconess Hospital, was seriously injured at 4 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 1935 in a fall from a fifth-floor window of the hospital, to the lawn. She suffered fractures of the right leg and left arm and internal injuries. Miss Borah was being treated for a nervous disorder and had been at the hospital since August 6.

Miss Borah died at the hospital at 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, August 22 of the injuries suffered when she leaped or fell from the fifth story window of the hospital.

Gladys Blanche Borah, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. P. C. Borah of Golden Gate, Illinois, was born September 13, 1909, and died August 22, 1935 at the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, after a serious illness of three weeks, at the age of 25 years, eleven months and eight days.

She was converted at the early age of 13 years and became a member of the West M. E. Church, being closely affiliated with this church the remainder of her life. She attended and was graduated from the Olney Township High School with the class of 1931.

She leaves to mourn her loss, her father and mother; brother Percy; and sister Dorothy Maxine at home; a sister Mrs. Verdie Billingsley and two nieces, Dorthea and Ellagwyn, of Olney, Illinois; a grandfather Mr. W. L. Gaither of Golden Gate; one aunt, Mrs. Mary E. Kuhl of Champaign, Illinois; and the following uncles: V. M. Gaither, Golden Gate, Illinois, Otto E. Borah. Cedar Rapids, Iowa, L. W. Borah,Champaign, Illinois, Dr. O. C. Borah, Olney, Illinois, Dr. J. L. Borah, Phoenix, Arizona, C. R. Borah, San Antonio, Texas.

Funeral services were held at the West M. E. Church at 10:30 a. m., August 24, 1935, with Reverend J. P. Tucker of the Mt. Erie charge officiating, with interment at West cemetery.
