MARQUETTE HEIGHTS -- Eugene F. Smith, 82, of 401 Kaskaskia died  Monday, Dec. 19, 1994, at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.

Born Jan. 1, 1912, in Parkersburg to L. Elmer and Nora E. Fritchley Smith, he married Beulah Thomas on Nov. 5, 1932, in Hidalgo. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, John L. of Marquette Heights; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. One son, Robert, and one sister preceded him in death.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 31 years, retiring from the accounting department in 1972. He was a member of Hilton Masonic Lodge 1143, AF&AM.

Services at Creve Coeur Christian Church with Rev. John Plunkett officiating. Entombment  in Lakeside Mausoleum in Pekin.
