Owen Smith - Class Of 1930

Owen Smith, 65, of 10 Keiffer Drive, Olney, died Friday evening, November 3, 1978 at Richland Memorial Hospital.  Services at First United Methodist Church, Olney with Rev. Phil Gardner officiating. Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was born December 24, 1912 in Clay City, son of Hiram and Essie Dogget Smith. On February 12, 1938 he married Ann Garrett in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith owned and operated Smith's Donut Shop in Olney for 19 years, from 1940 to 1959. He was then an industrial carpenter from 1959 until retiring in 1970.

Surviving are his wife, Ann; a brother, Paul Smith, Bridgeport; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Loretta) Hennagin, Dunedin, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Mary Ann Stout, Olney.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Harlie Smith and Gavin Smith, and a sister, Mrs. Aleta Crackel.

He was a member of the Olney First United Methodist Church.
