Mary P. Mathis, 90, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, formerly of Clay City died Wednesday August 6, 2003 at Cypress Hills Nursing Home in Jacksonville, Fla.  Services at the Neal Funeral Home in Louisville.  Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park near Claremont.

Mrs. Mathis was born on November 18, 1912 in Claremont, the daughter of William and Minnie (Provines) Paul.  She married Joseph R. Mathis on November 17, 1936 in Sumner.  He preceded her in death on May 15, 2001.

She was a retired registered nurse and attended Ingraham Christian Church.

Mrs. Mathis is survived by a son, Joseph R. Mathis Jr. and his wife, Linda of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; a daughter, Ann Leonard and her husband, Hallett of Ingraham; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
