Eleanor Ruth Houchin (Runyon)

Eleanor Ruth Runyon, 76, of Olney, died Monday August 15, 2005, at Richland Mrmorial Hospital in Olney. Funeral service at the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Sue Bailey officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Eleanor was born in Foosland, Champaign County, Ill. on Dec. 12, 1928, to Rose Madeline (Luster) and Abijah Houchin. She married Richard Morris Runyon on Sept. 16, 1951, in the First Church Evangelical United Brethren in Hammond, IN. He survives.

Eleanor was a 1946 graduate of Olney Township High School, has worked in secretarial capacity most of her life and for 30 years worked in the offices of Runyon Insurance. She was an avid golfer, a genealogist and a member of the Richland County Genealogical and Historical Society. She was a 52 year member of Immanuel United Methodist Church (Formerly the United Brethren Church)

She is survived in addition to her husband, two sons, Richard M. Runyon, Jr. and his wife Marcia, and Kenneth B. Runyon and his wife Belenda; four grandchildren, Craig Runyon, Christina Runyon, Tyler Runyon and Jared Runyon; and a step-granddaughter, Leatrice Potter. Also surviving is a sister Marjorie Cutshall and her husband Muriel of Centralia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Leslie, Floyd, Darrell, William and Donald; four sisters, Vivian Hodal and Margaret Mitchell; two infant brothers and one infant sister.
