Melvin Graves

Melvin E. Graves, 76, of Olney died Monday December 6, 1993 at Richland Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services at Zirkle Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Ozment officiating. Burial in the Crest Haven Memorial Park.

Mr. Graves was born April 10, 1917 in Preston Township, Richland County, the son of Walter and Martha (Mitchell) Graves. He married Mabel Kermicle on April 6, 1943 in St. Charles, Mo.

Mr. Graves owned and operated Clover Farm Dairy, retired in 1981. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Richland County Farm Bureau, past president of the Illinois Jersey Cattle Club and American Jersey Cattle Club. Mr. Graves was a World War II veteran in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. ( TEC 5 US Army)

Mr. Graves is survived by his wife, Mabel Graves of Olney; three sons, Jimmy and wife, Jayne Graves, Jerry and wife, Pat Graves and Tony and wife, Chris Graves all of Dundas; a daughter, Marcia and husband, Ray Vaughn of Olney; a brother, Raymond Graves of Olney; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Graves was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Monty Graves, a brother, three sisters and a granddaughter.
