Gerald Wayne Chaplin

Gerald W. Chaplin, 78, of Olney, died Friday March 30, 2007, at Burgin Manor in Olney.  Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Garden in rural Claremont.

Mr. Chaplin was born September 10, 1928 in Claremont, the son of Garland Mowrer Chaplin and Dolly McWilliams Chaplin.

He retired from Illinois State Police in 1991 after 25 years of service in the Logistics Department. He was a member of Westside Chrisstian Church in Springfield. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1952-1958. he was a member of American Association of Retired Persons.

Mr. Chaplin is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jack Clevy, of Claremont, Jim Clevy, of Claremont, Dolly Ashworth, of Olney, Walter Jones, of Cisne, Verl Jones, of Venice, Fla., Shirley Koscik, of Channahon, Ronald Chaplin, of Joliet, Jerry Chaplin, of Plainfield, Donna Morris, of Baxter, Minn., Judy Johnson, of South Wilmington, Deborah Trimmer, of Plainfield, and Robert Chaplin, of Morris; brother-in-law, Leroy Curtis; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
