George N. Lambird - Class Of 1965

George N. Lambird

George Neil Lambird, 76, of Olney, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Linda White Hospice House, Evansville, Indiana. George was born June 9, 1947 in Richland Co., Illinois, to Grethel Lex and Virginia (Cooper) Lambird. He married Lorrena Pearl (Shoulders) December 31, 2010 at Antioch Christian Church, and she preceded him in death on March 08, 2023.

George was a man with many different titles. To some, he was a business enthusiast where he owned and operated several local businesses from oil production, drilling, and supply yard to rental properties and gas stations. He was known for his strong work ethic and instilled just that into his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. To friends and family, George was loving, caring, and a proud supporter. He was best known as “Pops”.

George loved sports. He loved watching and supporting his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all their sporting events, especially baseball. He loved watching baseball and might have been known to be the one on the sideline cheering or advocating for those he loved! He was most recently an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He followed many sports and kept up on all the latest stats. He loved nothing more than making a March Madness bracket with grandsons or following the NFL teams throughout the league.

George had seen a lot throughout his lifetime and shared some of the greatest stories. He was a wise man and gave the best advice! Whether you needed some financial, business, or just as simple as advice about life, he was your man! George absolutely loved his wife and family, being outdoors, classic cars, President Donald Trump and being in Florida with his wife and friends. One of his final wishes was to see the re-election of Donald Trump as President in 2024! More than anything, he was the absolute best “Pops”!

George is survived by his sons, Tony (Angela) Gosnell, Kevin (Dana) Gosnell, Jim (Kodie) Gosnell; Grandchildren, Anthony Gosnell, Jr., Rachel (Greg) Crowe, Carson Gosnell, Maddison Gosnell, Vinson Gosnell, Lorraine Gosnell, Bradley Gosnell, Ashley Harmon, Heather (Travis) Hoffmeister, Shelby Ryant, James (Tori) Gosnell, Matthew (Sarah) Gosnell, and Trentyn Gosnell; Great Grandchildren, Gregory Crowe, Lauryn Crowe, Amber Crowe, Sarah-Jo Crowe, Deacon Crowe, Connor Reed, Emma West, Kimber Long, Taylor Hoffmeister, Samantha Hoffmeister, Shayllen Hays, Mackenna Gosnell, Tucker Gosnell, Noah Gosnell, Khloe Gosnell, Theodore Gosnell; sister, Charlene (Mike) Sager; nephews, Jay (Ann Marie) Sager and Steve (Janeen) Sager; and good friends, Jeff and Donna Swinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and granddaughter, Kourtney Lorrayne Gosnell.

A funeral service will be held for George at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with a visitation beginning one hour before service time. Interment will follow the service at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens, and full Military Rites will be performed at the Graveside.

Memorials can be made to the Linda White Hospice House, Evansville, Indiana.
