Gordon Nicholas Waxler

Gordon N. Waxler, 73, died Tuesday, August 14, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services held at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Louis Youngs officiating. Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Mr. Waxler was born on April 30, 1928, in Olney, the son of George Allen and Hazel (Nicholas) Waxler. He married George Ann Doan on June 20, 1948. She survives.

He was a retired farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney: a member of the Methodist Men and Gideons: a charter member of the Parkersburg Ruritan Club; and served on the County Board from 1968 to 1976. He was a bus driver for the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville.

Mr. Waxler is survived by his wife, George Ann Waxler, of Olney; three sons, Thimothy H. Waxler and his wife, Deborah, of Claremont, Daniel A. Waxler and his wife, Laurie, of Olney, and Jonathan L. Waxler and his wife, Angel, of Albion; a daughter Debra A. DeRousse and her husband, Stacy, of Charleston; two brothers, Glenn Waxler and his wife, Gwen of Haslett, MI, and Robert Waxler and his wife, Elva, of Olney, six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Betty Jean.
