Robert Lee "Bob" West, 73, of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, October 23, 2004, at his home.  Graveside services with military rites at Kirk Cemetery in Ina with Reverend Ted Anderson officiating.

Mr. West was born on August 24, 1931, in Olney, the son of Bert and Flossie (Frankland) West. He married Ann C. Vuick on March 19, 1980, in Olney. She survives.

He was a member of Mt. Olive Methodist Church in Claremont. He was a veteran serving in the Navy from October 18, 1950, to August 3, 1954. In the early 1970s, he became superintendent and supervised and operated Mt. Vernon Rescue Mission until he retired in April 2004 due to his illness.

Mr. West is survived by his wife, Ann C. West, of Mt. Vernon; five children and five stepchildren; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
