Dolores DoBell, 82, of Ames, Iowa passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Dolores Mae DoBell was born Feb. 13, 1931, to Robert and Genevieve Clarke in DeKalb, Ill.

Dolores grew up in Olney, Ill., and graduated valedictorian of her high school class in 1949. She later graduated from Bradley University with a teaching license. Dolores married David DoBell on Sept. 12, 1953, in Peoria, Ill. They had three sons. She had lived in Ames for 47 years. Dolores taught third and fourth grade, worked as a librarian, a factory worker and worked at Iowa State University for 18 years, finishing her career serving foreign students in the agricultural department.

She enjoyed music, singing in the church choir and Song Birds and playing flute in the Heart of Iowa Senior Band. Doe gardened, played cards and traveled. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, P.E.O. and Sigma Alpha Iota Sorority.

Dolores is survived by her sons, Dwight (Darlene) DoBell, of Rochester, Minn., Daniel (Cindy) DoBell, of Corning, N.Y., and Donald DoBell, of Ames; three grandchildren, Nicole, Joshua and Michael; and one great-grandchild, Alexander.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dave; two sisters, Marion and Anne; and an infant son, Donald.

Doe will be remembered for her love and devotion to her boys, her beautiful soprano voice and her service to foreign students. God bless her memory.
