Mildred Marie "Millie" Vail, 71, of Mt. Carmel, died April 18, 2001 at her residence. Prayer service at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Mrs. Vail was born on September 14, 1929 in Richland County, the daughter of Augustus and Frances (Schneider) Weiler. She married William R. "Bill" Vail on April 26, 1952 in Olney. He survives.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Sebastian Church and Chi Masters Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

She is survived by three daughters, Sue Vail of Evansville, Ind., Janis Roberts and her husband, Berry of Mt. Carmel, and Jackie Gillespie and her husband, Keith of St. Francisville; six grandchildren; four brothers, Byron Weiler of Claremont, Jim Weiler of Olney, Hank Weiler of Bourbonnais, and Elmer Weiler of Olney; six sisters, Mary Hahn of Olney, Margaret Kocher of Olney, Pauline Hahn of Decatur, Barb Lewis of Miami, Fla., Laverne Blackburn of Olney, and Carolyn Moran of Mt. Zion.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, John William Vail.
