Earl Glen Wachtel, 84, of San Jose, California, died peacefully at home on Monday, November 24, 2014.

Mr. Wachtel was born August 30, 1930, in Olney, Richland County, Illinois. He graduated from Olney Township High School and San Jose State University, served in the U.S. Air Force, was a retired mechanical engineer from IBM, enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family, and was an avid fly fisherman.

Mr. Wachtel was preceded in death by his parents, Earl G. Wachtel Sr. and Edith (Adams) Wachtel, and his sister, Betty Lou Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Neumeyer) Wachtel, his two daughters, Lynn (Kelly) Patten and Lee Anne (Michael) Dillon, and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be expressed by making a donation to the charity of your choice or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF).
