Jane Jenkins (Berry)

Jane (Jenkins) Berry, 86, passed peacefully from this world in the early evening of March 10, 2016, from respiratory failure at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with her daughter, Sue Berry, and grandson, Chanler Dorgan, by her side.

Jane was born (at home) on March 19, 1930, to Eunice (May) and Everett Jenkins, of Olney, soon to be big sister to Marie (Jenkins) Kesler and Jim Jenkins.

Jane grew up in Olney, graduating from Olney Township High School, and worked at Prairie Farms until her marriage to Jack Berry (also a native of Olney) in June of 1951. While Jack and Jane raised five children, Jane wrote several craft books. One book titled "Bows Step By Step" earned top rating as a best seller and gave Jane the nickname of "The Bow Lady."

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jim; niece, Brenda and her husband, Jack.

Jane is survived by her five children, Sue (Rich Eck), John (Maureen), Jim(Anna Mae), Julie and Janet (Don); nine grandchildren, Chanler, Jill, Chris, Kyle, Jason, Tim, Todd, Virgil and DJ; six great-grandchildren, Joanna, Austin, Killian, Cassidy, Camryn and Jack. Jane is also survived by her sister, Marie, with brother-in-law, Chuck Kesler; sister-in-law, Carol Jenkins; nieces, Mary, Sharon, Cendy and Louise Ann; nephews, Jim and Dave; in addition to many grand-nieces nephews and cousins on the May side of the family.

There will be a private family viewing followed by cremation. Jack and Jane's ashes will journey home to Olney to rest among their six generations of south-central Illinois forebearers.
