Joan E. Williams, 86, of Carmi, Illinois, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana. She was born June 8, 1929, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Harry William and Margaret (Goss) Seymour. She was married to Edward “Eddie” Williams, and he preceded her in death in 1988.

Joan was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. She spent much of her career as a secretary for various firms in the Carmi area, most recently at Wabash-Ohio Valley Special Education District (WOVSED). She enjoyed travelling, sewing, reading and working in her yard.

Survivors include sons David of Carmi and Jim of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister, Maxine Shafer of Olney; nieces and nephew Carla Gardener, Randy Shafer and Jana McGregor.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Graveside service at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi.
