Raymond L. "Bud" Scherer, 74, of Sumner died Friday, July 25, 2003, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.  Services at Trinity Lutheran Church with burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery near Claremont.

Mr. Scherer was born on July 10, 1929 in Richland County, the son of Elza R. and Freda (Burgener) Scherer.  He married Audrey Smith on October 14, 1952 and she survives.

He was a Korean War Army veteran and a retired farmer.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney and American Legion.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey (Smith) Scherer; two sons, Eldon Scherer of Sumner and Robert A. Scherer of Claremont.; a brother, Ronald Scherer of Columbia; a sister, Anita Clodfelter of West Salem; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
