JOHN ARTHUR POOL,  75, of rural Calhoun died Tuesday March 2, 2004 at his residence in rural Richland County.  Funeral services at Stasi-Grove Funeral Home with Reverend Morris Burkett and Reverend Don Tharp officiating. Burial in Shiloh Cemetery south of Claremont.

Mr. Pool was born on April 8, 1928 in Berryville, the son of James Harlan and Sue Belle (Anderson) Pool. He married Betty Jo Mewes on September 3, 1955 at the parsonage of Church of Christ in Olney. She survives.

He was a dairy farmer. He began dairy farming in southern Richland County in 1955 and his dairy farm is still in operation today. He was a member of Parkersburg Masonic Lodge #509 and was an elder of Berryville Christian Church.

Mr. Pool is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Jo Pool; two sons, Bruce John Pool of Calhoun and Bradley Wayne Pool and his wife, Jane of Calhoun, a daughter, Cheryl Lynn (Pool) Braddock and her husband, Tim of Sumner; nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Harlan Pool, Jr.
