JOHN OGDEN "JACK" BERRY, 83, pased away in his sleep on January 27, 2013, from complications of dementia, in Macungie, Pa. Jack was born at home on December 25, 1929, to Virgil and Catharine (Johnston) Berry, on West Main Street in Olney. He was the great-great-grandson of Clay County Illinois pioneers, William and Catherine (Smith) Berry.

He grew up in Richland County amongst a very large extended family; graduated from Olney Township High School; earned a Civil Engineer Degree from Indiana Tech and upon graduation was drafted into the Marines during the Korean War. Jack then had a 34-year career with Mobil Oil and then enjoyed a long and adventurous retirement before succoming to the frailties of old age. Jack was united in marriage to Jane Jenkins (also of Olney, daughter of Everett and Eunice (May) Jenkins; these families also of pioneer stock). Jack and Jane were married June 17, 1951, at First Methodist Church of Olney. They enjoyed 61 1/2 years of marriage. Jack Berry was a man of many admirable qualities. Always ready with a helping hand, a good story and easy friendship. Our Jack is well-loved, well-missed and well-received on the "other side of the river."

He was preceeded in death by his parents and his twin sisters, Sibyl Berry and Charlotte (Berry) Bosson.

Jack is survived by his wife, Jane, and his five children, their spouses and offspring; Susan Berry and her son, Chanler (KC) Dorgan, John and Maureen Berry and their children, Jill, Kyle, Chris and his wife, Amy, with little daughter, Camryn Berry, Jim and his wife, Anna Mae Berry, their sons, Jason and his wife, Tamarity Berry and their little son, Killian, Tim Berry, Todd and his kids, Joanna and Austin Berry, Julie Berry (twin) and Janet Berry (twin) with her sons, Virgil and D.J. Enos, all residing in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Jack is also survived by five cousins, Barbara Campbell, in Asheville, N.C., Betty (Berry) Cozad, in Redlands, Calif., Robert "Bob" Johnston, of Leesburg, Fla., Shirley Everroad, of North Vernon, Ind., and Sue Gifford, in Mainesville, OB. Also survived by in-laws, nephews and nieces.
