Jacqueline Harvey Negus (Taylor) - Class Of 1944

Jacqueline Harvey Negus (Taylor)

Jacqueline “Jackie” Harvey Taylor, 89, of Mahomet, IL went home to her Heavenly Father July 8, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ for many years after accepting Him as Savior in her early 20’s. She was a supportive wife of RC “Bud” Taylor during their 38 years of marriage, and caring mother to Russ (Charlene) Taylor, Richard “Nick” (Renee) Taylor, and Virginia (Paul) Nurmi, all of Mahomet. Jackie was a loving grandmother to Casey Taylor Buchanan, Eric Nurmi, and Justin Taylor (all of Mahomet), Ryan Taylor (Champaign), Sarah Nurmi Coe (Glen Ellyn), Thad Nurmi (Indianapolis), Rhett Taylor (Nashville); and great-grandmother to 14.

Her husband Bud and grandson Jordan Taylor preceded her in death.

The greatest love of Jackie’s life was Jesus shown by hours she spent in prayer, Bible reading, and sharing Him with others. She was a member at Grace Church in Mahomet where for years she taught Sunday School and VBS, sang in the choir, served as deaconess, and painted murals. For 30 years Jackie was an art student at Parkland Community College. She loved drawing and painting and giving art lessons to each of her eight grandchildren as well as other adults and kids.

She and Bud enjoyed visiting and hosting missionaries in their home – for a meal or a month – from Grace Church, Wycliffe Bible Translators, CRU, and Youth for Christ. Her love of travel and Jesus took her on mission trips to Belgium, China, Russia, Israel, and Colombia, South America.

Jackie was born to Wayland and Hester (Harvey) Negus December 15, 1926 in Chicago. She spent her formative years in Olney, IL with her sister Virginia Negus Phillips (Thomaston, GA) who survives her.
