Roy L. Welker, age 71 of Olney, Illinois died Saturday, September 21, 1996 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. Mr. Welker was born March 13, 1925 in Litchfield, Minnesota, the son of Ben and Matilda (Buss) Welker. He married Frances Ulrich on July 30, 1950 in Sumner, Illinois.

He was a retired dispensing optician at Weber Medical Clinic in Olney for 25 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Elks and Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Welker, Olney; two sons, David Welker and wife, Laura of Dallas, TX and Gary Welker and wife, Carol of Fort Wayne, Ind; two daughters, Jane Claytor and husband, Jim and Nancy Theivagt and husband, Steve all of Springfield, Illinois; one brother, John C. Welker, Carmi, IL; one sister, Doris Ogle, Olney and six grandchildren.

Mr. Welker was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Mark C. Myers officiating. Burial was in Crest Haven Cemetery rural Claremont. Full military rites were performed at the gravesite.
