Junior Scherer Class of 1943Junior M. Scherer, 90, of Olney, passed away on May 25, 2015 in Olney, IL.  Memorial services at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend April Dailey officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery with full military rites at graveside.

Junior was born Nov 7, 1924 in Richland Co., IL to parents Roscoe Junior and Edna Violet (Fritschle) Scherer.

Junior was a farmer at heart, he enjoyed gardening and raising animals. He grew up in the country and was rooted in the land. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific theater. When he returned from the service he worked for Cliff Fulk's farm equipment sales and service. Then he worked for Wilson's sales and service for many years. Many will remember him from his work at Jones Cycle Shop, Sports and Spokes, and finally as a sexton with Trust Bank.

He married Hazel M. Boatman on June 30, 1946 in Olney, IL and they shared 65 years of marriage together until her death. Hazel was the love of his life. Together they participated in many community events, such as Ruritan, musicals, Olney Arts Council, and were active members of Trinity Lutheran Church their whole life. Their faith sustained them through life.

Survived by son, David (Jama) Scherer of Evansville, IN; daughter, Rev. Karen Scherer of St. Louis, MO; son, John (Rene) Scherer of Olney; son, Greg Scherer of Olney; grandchildren, Ryan (Jeanie) Scherer, Jessica Skyles, Brandi Robertson, and Rachael Leaf; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Lucille) Scherer and Lee (Diane) Scherer; sisters, Bernadine (Austin) Dasch, Velma (Paul) VonAlman, and Arlene (Dan) Parr, and several nieces and nephews.

Junior is preceded in death by parents, wife, and brother Eugene Scherer.
