Wilma Jean Schahrer

Miss Wilma Jean Schahrer, 35, well known and highly respected former Art teacher in the East Richland School system, was fatally injured in a head-on automobile crash in Bakersfield, California last Thursday (February 11, 1960), as she and three other teachers were on their way to school. She was struck by an on-coming car, which was attempting to pass.

Funeral services at the Schaub Funeral Home with Rev. Earl M. Fritz in charge. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Miss Schahrer and her mother, Mrs. Leila G. Schahrer, who was also a teacher in the Olney Schools for many years, had moved to Bakersfield about four years ago. The family residence in Olney was 920 East Butler Street.

Besides her mother, Mrs. Leila G. Schahrer, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Boatman of Olney and two brothers, Carl Schahrer of Handford, Calif. and Rev. Irl Schahrer of Berlin, N.J.
