Verna Grove (Schwartz)

Verna May Schwartz, 79, of Olney, died Saturday, October 2, 2004, at Burgin Manor in Olney.  Funeral services in the chapel of the Stasi-Grove  Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Goss officiating.  Burial  in Crest Haven Memorial Park near Claremont.

Mrs. Schwartz was born on April 14, 1925, in Jasper County, the daughter of Ervin and Eva (Musgrove) Grove. She married Marion G. Schwartz on December 24, 1945, at United Brethren Church in Richland County. He preceded her in death.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and, recently, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Genealogy Society of Richland County. She was an abstractor by profession and owned and operated Schwartz Abstracting in Olney for a number of years. She worked for the county assessors office as the Supervisor of Assessments at the Richland County Courthouse.

Mrs. Schwartz is survived by a son, Stephen Schwartz and his wife, Helen, of Olney; a daughter, Suzanne Redmon, of Robinson; two brothers, Jerry Grove and his wife, Pat, of Olney, and Kenny Grove and his wife, Sue of Claremont; a sister, Helen Paddick and her husband, Bill, of Claremont; and four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Wilby Grove, and two sisters, Thelma Hubble and Dorothy Brissenden.
