Dale Kowa Class of 1943Dale E. Kowa, 90, of Woodbridge, Virginia, and formerly of Olney, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 25, 2016, at his home, surrounded by family members.

Dale was born January 5, 1926, in Olney, the son of William and Bessie (Seiler) Kowa. He married Marjorie E. Cook on April 23, 1947, in Noble. They were married 66 years before her death on April 28, 2013.

Dale graduated from Olney Township High School in the Class of 1943. During World War II, he served in the European Theater with the 346th Infantry Regiment, 87th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received March 18, 1945. Dale retired from General Telephone & Electric Corporation, where he worked for more than 43 years as an accounting manager in GT&E offices in Olney and Bloomington, Durham, North Carolina, and Tampa, Florida. Dale was a member of Church of Christ, serving as an Elder in congregations in Durham, North Carolina, Brandon, Florida, and Woodbridge, Virginia.

Before the family moved from Olney, in 1968, Dale was actively involved with Little League and Babe Ruth League Baseball, Boy Scouts, Kiwanis, and American Legion. After retirement, he was an avid golfer, enjoyed traveling and reading, and especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers, Carl Kowa and Robert Kowa.

He is survived by son, Mike Kowa and wife Mildred, of Hillsborough, North Carolina; daughter, Debra Neal and husband Michael, of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandson, Christopher Neal and wife Shelby, of Woodbridge, Virginia; grandson, Brandon Neal and wife Amanda, of Stafford, Virginia; granddaughter, Jennifer (Kowa) Hall and husband Kevin, of Bradenton, Florida; granddaughter, Amanda (Neal) Sammons and husband Blake, of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; granddaughter, Robin Kowa, of State College, Pennsylvania; and great-grandchildren, Cadence, Avery, Kenzie, Lorelei, Penny, and Hudson.
