Werdna Conklin Hill Porter, 97, of Olney died Wednesday October 1, 2008 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Graveside services at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney with Rev. Joel Adams officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Porter was born on March 9, 1911 in Olney, the daughter of Adelbert Edmond and Estella Jane (Conklin) Hill.

She worked diligently as a bookkeeper for Weber Medical Clinic in Olney for 61 years, right up to her death. Through her travel, work, community service and church, she grew many strong friendships and generously touched the lives of many. She actively participated in the life and ministry of First Presbyterian Church in Olney. She was baptized into the church and joined in 1920 and she served as an ordained elder and deacon and lived out her faith in simple and powerful ways.

Mrs. Porter is survived by a stepson, Nick Porter, of River Ridge, La. and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a lot of good friends.
