Roy Maxwell Nicholas, 71, Auburn, and formerly of Parkersburg, died Sunday January 17, 1982 in Memorial Hospital in Springfield.  Burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Nicholas was born in Richland County September 16, 1910, the son of Grace Nicholas Land. He married Erma Higgins March 28, 1937 and she survives.

He was a retired shop supervisor for the State of Illinois, and was a member of the United Methodist Church at Parkersburg.

Other survivors include a son, James Nicholas, Auburn; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
