Olney Man Dies of Injuries He Sustained in Pickup Accident

Casey - An Olney man died Friday evening, July 15, 2005 from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident on Wednesday south of Casey. Officials at the Illinois State Police's Effingham station reported that Erik Doser, 18, died at 6 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Doser was reportedly a passenger in a pickup truck driven by Jordan Kocher, 16, of Olney. Kocher was driving eastbound at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday on Illinois Route 49, about six miles south of Casey, when he fell asleep at the wheel, police reported. The vehicle ran off the road, struck a culvert and overturned numerous times. Kocher, Doser, and another passenger, Robert Geiger, 47, of Olney, were taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center for treatment. Doser and Geiger were then transferred to Carle, police reported.

Erik Brent "Doze" Doser, 18 of Olney died Friday, July 15, 2005 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana as the result of a traffic accident.  Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park near Claremont.

Mr. Doser was born July 12, 1987 in Vincennes, Ind., the son of Kevin and Sandra (Dowty) Doser.

He was a 2005 graduate of East Richland High School. He was involved in tennis and track and played football for four years and basketball for three years. He was enrolled at Vincennes University. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney.

Mr. Doser is survived by his parents, Kevin and Sandra Doser of Olney; a sister, Rachel Doser at home; paternal grandparents, Albert Doser of Olney and Donna Doser of Lexington, Ky.; maternal grandparents, Larry and Jan Dowty of Claremont.
