Eric Hans Rasmussen, 84, of San Diego died Monday, September 20, 1999. He was born March 15, 1915 in Chicago.

Mr. Rasmussen was retired after working as a counselor at Fresno City College, and served as a lieutenant junior grade in the Navy during World War II. He belonged to the California Teachers Association and the Illinois Wesleyan Alumni Association.

In 1950, Mr. Rasmussen came from Sullivan, Illinois as Olney High School’s head football coach, succeeding Troit Freeland. Rasmussen, a Chicago prep star in the 30’s, was a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University.

Survivors include his wife, Anne Marie; daughters Mary Anne of San Francisco and Susan Dean of Mount Vernon, Maine; sons Samuel of San Diego and Mike of Danville; and four grandchildren.

Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, San Diego, with committal service at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
