Dorothy Helen Ikemire Newton, 81, Louisville, died Friday October 7, 1988 in Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville.  Services in the Neal Funeral Home in Louisville with burial in the Orchard Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Newton was born August 8, 1907 in Louisville, the daughter of Irvin Ebert and Mary Ella (Smith) Ikemire. She married Harold Newton in 1958 and he preceded her in death in 1973.

She was a retired teacher, having taught at East Richland High School and North Clay High School. She was a member of the First Disciples of Christ Church in Olney. She also was a member of various organizations and did volunteer work.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mrs. Norma Ikemire Lorenski, Johnson City; and an aunt, Irma Pulliam, Louisville.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, her husband and parents.
