Phillip Edgington

Philip Doyle Edgington, 47, of Calhoun, died Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Celebration of Life Service at Calhoun Christian Church.

Mr. Edgington was born August 19, 1967, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Johnnie and Linda (Atteberry) Edgington. He married Roberta Piper on August 8, 2010.

Philip graduated from East Richland High School in 1985. He later attended Frontier Community College and graduated with an Associate in Quality Management in 2001. He formerly worked as a Quality Technician for Fram Filtration and Franklin Oil.

Phil was passionate about giving back to his community and serving the Lord. He served on the Little League and Babe Ruth board for 11 years combined, and, when baseball season came, he could be found umpiring a game or two. He also spent his time coaching various sports, touching many lives throughout the years. He was a proud Olney Tigers fan and could be spotted at various sporting events: This man bled orange and black. On Sundays, Phil could be found preaching at Calhoun Christian Church. He enjoyed gorgeous days when he could ride his motorcycle, especially with his family.

Overall, he was a man of faith and was respected and loved by many.

He is survived by his wife, Roberta Edgington, of Calhoun; daughter,Faith Fifer and husband Caleb, of Alton; son, Cherokee Edgington, of Alton; stepson, Christopher Persinger, of Calhoun; stepdaughter, Jessica Persinger, of Calhoun; parents, Johnnie and Linda Edgington, of Calhoun; sister, Jennie Edgington, of Calhoun; brother, John Edgington, of Clay City; and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
