Donnie W. Griesemer - Class Of 1984

Donnie W. Griesemer

Donald Wayne Griesemer, 57, passed away of natural causes December 27, 2023, in Maricopa, Arizona. He was born February 4, 1966, in Olney, Illinois to Omer and Gaye Dawn (Smith) Griesemer.

Don had many stories to tell about his childhood in small town Illinois, many of them including his cousin and best friend Shawn. He went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University with a Master degree in geography and Bachelor degrees in geology and geography. He then moved to Arizona where he was dedicated to his work as an environmental consultant over the last 25 years, working with AEI Consultants for most of his career. He raised three children in Gilbert, Arizona whom he was undeniably proud of and became a loyal fan of ASU, U of A, and Alabama by association.

Don found happiness in grilling, frequenting Amazon with prime delivery, and catching up with his buddies and neighbors. His goal was to buy a house on water and he accomplished that in his last months by buying a home on a neighborhood man-made lake in Maricopa.

His surviving family includes his three children, Carson, Tara, and Layne of  Gilbert, Arizona "favorite child"/family dog, Chewy Griesemer, and his three siblings, Cheri Taylor and her husband Terry, Ken Griesemer and his wife Teria, and Jonathan Griesemer and his wife Amanda, all of Olney, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents Omer and Gaye Dawn Griesemer.

Per his wishes, "no burial, no services of any type, no embalming, cremation as soon as possible (do not give any to anyone that is going to leave them on a mantle or set up a shrine), no special boxes, urns, etc." He will be cremated at Gilbert Memorial Park Funeral Home in Gilbert, Arizona.
