Olney Woman Killed in Crash

An Olney woman was killed in a car-truck accident about 4:30 a.m. Sunday on U.S.50 ten miles east of Olney.

Dead is Becky J. Feather 18, of  Olney. According to Illinois State Police, a semi-truck driven by Charles K. Grycca, 31, of Delta, Ohio was traveling east on U.S. 50 when it collided head-on with a westbound vehicle driven by Ms. Feather.

Becky Jean Feather, 18, of Olney died instantly when her car collided with a carnival truck about 6.5 miles east of Olney early Sunday morning, July 18, 1982.  Funeral services at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Robin Perkins, pastor of the Olney First Baptist Church officiating.  Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield.

Miss Feather was born in Harrisburg, Ill., Sept. 1, 1963, the daughter of Burrell  Feather, Jr., and Betty (Doty) Sons. She attended the North Side Grade School in  Fairfield through the third grade. Miss Feather and her mother left Fairfield and lived in Wooster, O. and Denver, Colo. before moving to Olney when she was 16. She finished high school in Olney  and then attended Wabash Valley Junior College in Mt. Carmel one year.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her father and step-mother, Burrell and Dorothy Feather, of Fairfield; her step-father and mother David and Betty Sons, of Olney, two  brothers, Jay, of Cape Coral, Fla.; and Bob, of Omaha Neb.; one step-brother, Marty Gwaltney, of Petersburg, Ind.; two step-grandfathers, Seth Sons, of Fairfield and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thomason, of Barnhill.
