Jim McKinney, 61, of Olney, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Mendota Community Hospital in Mendota. Burial in South Muddy Cemetery in rural Jasper County.

Mr. McKinney was born July 7, 1945, in Olney, the son of John William and Audrey Page (Allen) McKinney. He married Janice Roth Gordon on January 1, 1970. She survives.

He previously owned and operated Beal Newsstand in Olney and was most recently the pastor of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Olney. He was a former member of the Cummins Municipal Band.

Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife, Jan McKinney, of Olney; daughter, Sasha Darnell and her husband, Billy, of St. Francisville; sons, Gordon McKinney and his wife, Kira, of St. Louis, and Ben McKinney and his wife, Claire, of Springfield; sister, Marilyn Jones, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; brothers, Alan McKinney and his wife, Judy, of Olney, and Avery McKinney and his wife, Mary Jo, of Olney; grandchildren, Tyler, Travis and Marissa Darnell, and Tanner, Liam, Kyah and Marek McKinney; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill McKinney.
