Loren H. Allen, 68, West Frankfort, Illinois died Monday September 4, 1978 in his home. Services at Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort with burial in Rosehill Cemetery in Marion.
He was born October 3, 1909 in Williamson County to Joe and Carrie Absher Allen.
He held a Ph.D. in education. He was the Unit District Librarian at Olney High School from 1949-1957 and was a former school administrator from the Illinois Central College in Peoria. He retired July 5, 1973. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in West Frankfort.
His parents and a brother, Louie preceded him in death.
Survivors are his wife, the former Doris Trout; two sons, Kenneth and Joe; a daughter, Carol Hughey; a brother, Lawrence and two grandchildren.

I had the privilege of working for Mr. Allen as a student projectionist from the AV Club when he was head librarian at Richwoods High School in Peoria, Illinois. (1962-1966). How ironic that I would get a teaching job at East Richland High School in 1972! I also had his son, Ken, when he taught Economics at RCHS. SMALL WORLD!
