Vera Smith (Latin/Math 1931-1948)

Vera Irene Smith Headley, 87 of Olney, died Thursday Feb 16, 1995 at her home. Funeral services at Zirkle Funeral Home. Burial in the Little Prairie Cemetery west of Albion.

Headley was born Jan 8, 1908 in Edwards Co., the daughter of George T.  and Luella (Miller) Smith. She married Meyrl Headley July 10, 1950 in Dugger, Indiana. He died Jan 23, 1972. She taught school for 44 years in Illinois and Indiana. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ; Olney Clio Club; Richland Barracks #466, Veterans of World War I Auxiliary, Olney Senior Citizens and 5, Olney Christian Singles, Richland County Retired Teachers Association, Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and National Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by a sister Hazel Reed of Lake City, FL, three nieces, Suzanne Aljabori, Diane Oxford, Michelle Abrajano; two great-nephews, Sean Aljabori and Keith Welch; and a great-niece Sarah Aljabori.

Headley was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant brother.
