Loren Mitchell, 73 of 616 S. Woodlawn Ave., Bloomington, Ind. died Friday, March 1977, at his home.

He was born in Olney December 25, 1903, son of Charles and Daisy Mitchell.

He graduated from Olney Township High School in 1923 and from McKendree College, Lebanon in 1928.

After completing college, he taught at Olney High School for about 20 years and was an instructor in chemistry, math and other sciences and was a sponsor of the school's rifle club.

Mr. Mitchell left Olney in the early 1950's, moving to Bloomington, Ind., where he joined the faculty of Indiana University. At the time of his retirement in 1972, he was assistant professor of health and safety.

Surviving are his wife, Hazel F. Finley Mitchell; a daughter, Carol Mitchell of Ft. Collins, Co.; four sons, Carl of Bedford, Ind., James of Ft. Collins, Co., John R. of Bloomington, and Richard P. of Washington, D.C. and two grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. A.J. (Loda) Kimmel, Mrs. Omar (Velma) Dressel and Mrs. C.F. (Wilma) Fritschle, all of Olney; and a brother, William F. Mitchell of Blythe, Calif.

Funeral services at the Day Mortuary in Bloomington, Ind. with Rev. George Davis officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery there.
