Freda L. Kerns, 83, of Taylorville, Illinois died Wednesday, February 24, 1988 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. Services in Connolly-McClure Funeral Home with burial in Anderson Cemetery, Palmer.

Miss Kerns was born in Christian County, Illinois daughter of Charles C. and Clara Belle Kerns. She taught school in Christian County for 41 years, was a member of First United Methodist Church, Daughters of American Revolution, Christian County Home Extension and American Association of University Women.

At Olney High School, Miss Kerns took over the Spanish classes upon the resignation of Mrs. Flick. She also had classes in English I.

Surviving is her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Kerns of Springfield; nephew, James Wanless of Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Leta L. Kerns, brother, Loren Kerns and her parents.
