Miss Phyllis Eleanor Hood, 86, of Sparta, Illinois died Monday February 27, 1989 in Sparta Community Hospital. Services in Westminster Presbyterian Church with burial in Caledonia Cemetery.

Miss Hood was born June 25, 1902 in Sparta to William and Bertha (Bratney) Hood.

Miss Hood was a retired school teacher. She was a newcomer to the staff at Olney High School in 1945, teaching English and Speech.

She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, the 20^th Century Club, the American Association of University Women and the Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society.

Survivors include one nephew and three nieces.
