O. A. Brown (Math 1936-1948)

Otis A. Brown, age 85 of 423 S. Morgan Street, passed away early this morning June 5, 1973 at the Richland Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services at Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with the Rev. R.E. Dowden officiating. Graveside services at Vandalia City Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was a native of Coffeen, Illinois and was the son of J.C. Brown and Martha E. Smith Brown. He was married to Agnes Kaley in 1921 and she preceded him in death in August of 1960.

Mr. Brown taught mathematics in the Olney Township High School for several years and retired at the closing of the old high school. He attended and graduated from Illinois College at Jacksonville in 1929 and did Post Graduate work at the University of Illinois. He was a member of Olney Lodge #926 B.P.O.E., I.O.O.M. and Eagles Lodge of Olney.

He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Neil (Dorothy) Gorrell of Granville, Ohio, two grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and two sisters: Raymond Brown of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Amy Harrison of St. Louis, Mo. and Mrs. Ruth McClain of Staunton.
