Carroll O. Berg, 65, of 202 S. Main St., Coleta, Illinois died Friday morning May 13, 1988 in his home after a long illness.  Services at Melvin-Schilling Funeral Home, Sterling with Rev. Kenneth Zuithoff officiating.  Burial in Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling.

Carroll was born April 11, 1923 in Mt. Erie, Illinois, son of Bedie M. and Pearl Vandaveer Berg.  He lived in Coleta since 1947, going there from Mt. Erie.  He married the former Doris L. Masterson of Albion on June 3, 1948.

He was employed as a loader by Northwestern Steel & Wire Co., Sterling for 36 years, retiring July 1, 1985. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; son, Carroll O. Jr.; three daughters, Dmita F. Russell, Linda K. Ebersole and Sandra G. Rothermel; two brothers, H. Frank and Bedie G. Berg; two sisters, Zula G. Blessing and Helen M. Warren and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
