Miss Hazel Louise Towery, age 77 of Granite City, Illinois died Monday, August 15, 1988. Funeral services in Irwin Chapel with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion, Ill.

Miss Towery was born March 16, 1911 in Marion, Ill. daughter of Benjamin F. and Pearl O. (Humphrey) Towery.

Miss Towery received her Bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University. She taught at Olney Township High School from 1936 until 1948, being head of the Commercial Department, teaching typing, shorthand, bookkeeping and business English. "Olney business men rely on her recommendations for positions for which her work trains students.  With Olney’s increased oil activity, the commercial courses have been in greater demand than ever before."
