Lester Harold Sterchi, 88, of Dundas, died Saturday, October 8, 2011, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Funeral services at Saron Church of Grand Prairie in rural Dundas with Tim Bursott officiating. Burial in Saron Cemetery in rural Dundas.

Mr. Sterchi was born July 3, 1923, the son of John and Ruth Etta (Schrey) Sterchi. He married Lela Mae Watkins on July 25, 1981, at Saron Church. She survives.

He was a farmer and had worked as a rural postal carrier. He was a member of Saron Church of Grand Prairie. He had been a member of East Richland School Board, past president of German Mutual Insurance Company, Charter member of Dundas Ruritan, member of Masonic Lodge of Olney, and FFA Alumni.

Mr. Sterchi is survived by his wife, Lela Mae Sterchi, of Dundas; Sandy Ernst and her husband, Jim, of Charleston; Jackie Houchin, of Olney; Stephen J. Sterchi Sr. and his wife, Jan, of Olney; Wayne Houchin, of Olney; Gerald “Gary” Houchin and his wife, Kim, of Olney; sister, Aileen Dohm and her husband, Reverend Robert of St. Charles, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Scott Reed and his wife, Nancy, Craig Reed and his wife, Melissa, Joshua Houchin and his wife, Meredith, Courtney Hoalt and her husband, Brandon, Todd Houchin, Nakia Slone and her husband, Kevin, Stephen J. Sterchi Jr. and his wife, Jamie, Christopher S. Sterchi, Jackie Martin and her fiancée, Brad; Jamie Martin, Seth Houchin and his wife, Jennifer and Heath Houchin; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Sterchi; first wife, Dorothy Iaggi Sterchi; and brother, Earl Sterchi.
