Donald L. Waggoner

Don L. Waggoner, 81, of San Angelo, Texas died Friday, March 14, 2003, in a local hospital. Don was born Sept. 16, 1921, in Sumner, Ill., to Ed and Mable (Ralston) Waggoner.

He was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II. He retired, after 20 years as a driller in the oil field. Following his retirement, he raised hogs and goats near Veribest, Texas.

Don was married to Lucille Ralston in 1938 in Bridgeport, Ill. She preceded him in death on May 3, 1995.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Ruth in 1992; his parents; and three brothers, Dale Waggoner, Ray Waggoner and Wendell Hart.

Survivors include his children, Donna George Thomerson of Mertzon, Lana Mitchell of San Angelo and Eddie Waggoner of San Angelo; seven grandchildren, Rob George and wife, Christine, of San Angelo, Doug Mitchell of San Angelo, Amy Michelle Slaughter and husband, Jamie, of Mississippi, Dawn Nichelson and husband, Phillip, of San Angelo, Garrett George of San Angelo, Stephanie Ruth Waters of San Angelo and Rick Ruth of Boyd, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, J.T. Slaughter III, Summer Nicole Slaughter, Lauren Lee Nichelson, Logan Nichelson, Slayter Lee Waters, Rikki Waters and Roby George; and one sister, Ruby Jennings of Olney, Ill.

Graveside services held in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
