Robert L. Gaede

The body of one Richland county soldier slain Monday April 16, 1945 on the island of Luzon, Philippines has received its final burial.

The remains of S/Sgt. Robert L. Gaede, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gaede, arrived Tuesday. Funeral services were held yesterday from the Schaub funeral home, the Rev. Walter A. Smith, pastor of the Olney Methodist church officiating. Burial was in Moravian cemetery at West Salem, where Olney Memorial post No. 4226, Veterans of Foreign Wars, tendered military services.

S/Sgt. Gaede, born in Richland county Oct. 20, 1920, was a member of Company L. 130th Infantry, 33rd division.

He is survived by a brother, Fredrick of Olney; and two sisters, Mrs. Lois Farthing of Hindsboro and Mrs. Mildred Struble of Tacoma, Wash.
