Was saddened to see notice of Dale Finley's death today. We worked together on a large oilfield in southern Oklahoma together in the mid-'70s for Union Oil Company of California. Dale completed an extensive geologic study of the Cumberland oil field in Bryan and Marshall Counties, OK. The result was detailed maps of the three major producing zones and several shallower non-producing gas zones that would be developed later. In addition, he prepared two enormous books (about 3 ft square) of geologic cross-sections. A copy of those books resided in my office and were very useful in evaluation and development planning work. Dale was a very prolific geologist who generated more maps than anyone else I've ever work with. He will be missed. Dale's mother was my Sunday school teacher at the First Methodist Church in Olney when I was a very young child. May he Rest in Peace.
