Roy Dale Britton

Roy Dale Britton, 84, of Cherokee Village, Ark., was born March 13, 1922, in Olney, Ill., the son of the late Frank Britton and Cora Musgrove Britton.  He died Feb. 21, 2007, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville.

He was a veteran of the Unied States Marine Corps, having served during world War II. He owned and operated his own shoe store for many years before retiring.

He moved to Cherokee Village 20 years ago from Centralia, Ill. He was a member of the Cherokee Village Kiwanis Club and Highland Elks Lodge. He also belonged to the Jaycees, the Rotary Club and the chamber of commerce. He loved gardening and the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was a member of the Cherokee Village United Methodist Church and was past president of the United Methodist Men's Club. He always put his family and church first.

He is survived by: his wife, Betty Jean Smith Britton of the home; one son and his wife, Brian and Marilyn Britton of Centralia, Ill.; three daughters and their husbands, Barbra and Eddie Jones of Cherokee Village, Brenda and Bob Pease of Centralia Ill., and Beth and Steve Koester of Centralia, Ill.; five grandchildren and their wives, Jason and Carrie Jones, Chad and Maggie Koester, Craig and Laci Koester, Bobby Dale Pease and Brent Pease; three great-grandchildren, Annalise Jones, Kayln Ann Koester, and Annika Grace Koester; and his beloved sister-in-law, Thelma Kile.

A memorial service for Roy Dale Britton will be held on March 4 at Cherokee Village United Methodist Church with Jimmy Anderson officiating.
