Robert Waxler

Robert E. “Bob” Waxler, age 75, of Olney died Sunday October 13, 2013. Funeral services at First United Methodist Church in Olney with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. Full military rites at graveside.

Bob was born on September 10, 1938 in Olney, Illinois, the son of George Allen Waxler and Hazel (Nicholas). He married Elva (Lathrop) on June 26, 1971 at First Methodist Church in Noble.

Bob was a tractor enthusiast. He enjoyed collecting tractors big and small. He took pleasure in attending old tractor shows and would take his son Gary along with him. He was a member of the Two-Cylinder Club. Bob lived and breathed farming. As soon as he could sit on a tractor he became a farmer. He bought his first tractor at age 16 with his own money. During his Army service, Bob played trumpet in the 3rd Army Band. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney. He was also a member of the Cummins Band for nearly 50 years.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elva Waxler of Olney; Son, Gary Waxler of Parkersburg and fiancee, Lekendra Putman; Sister-in-law, George Ann Waxler, Sister-in-law, Gwen Waxler; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Glenn Waxler  and Gordon Waxler, and infant sister, Betty Jean Waxler
