Richard Scherer, 58, of Olney, died Thursday Dec. 22, 1994 at his home.

Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Rev. Garin Cycholl officiating. Burial in the Crest Haven Memorial Park with military rites performed by the Olney Veterans Organizations.

Scherer was born Nov. 24, 1936 in Richland County, the son of Jerome and Laverne (Dewhirst) Scherer. He married Gladys Simen Aug. 1, 1965 at the United Church of Christ in Olney.

He was retired from AMF in Olney and was a member of the United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, of Olney; a daughter, Debra McCleave, of Olney; two sons, Richard Scott Scherer and Chris Scherer, both of Olney; two brothers, Jerry Scherer, of Decatur, and Gaylord Scherer, of Peoria; a sister, Juldine Maloney, of St. Charles, Mo.; and three granddaughters, Jennifer, Heather, and Lacy McCleave.

Scherer was preceded in death by his parents.
