Jimmie D. "J.D." Rodgers, 65, of Effingham, Illinois  died at 3 p.m. Wednesday November 26, 2003 at his home.  Services at the Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.  Military graveside services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham.

Mr. Rodgers was born on February 9, 1938 in Olney, the son of Truman and Nora (Smith) Rodgers.  He married Patricia Mette on April 3, 1993.  She survives.

He was the owner and operator of Sportsmans Bar in Effingham for more than 20 years.  He was a member of Effingham Moose Lodge and Effingham County Detachment of the Marine Corps League.  He served with the U.S. Marines.

Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife, Patricia Rodgers of Effingham; two daughters, Amy Doehring and husband, Michael of Groton, Conn. and Ashley Anderson of Effingham; a stepson, Jacob Doedtman of Wolcott, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Heather Doedtman of Effingham; one brother, Roy Rodgers and his wife, Bonnie of Effingham; two sisters, Jeri Berger and her husband, Bob of Olney and Dottie Buck of Effingham and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
